Mumbai, Sep (EPC News): Cement manufacturers from different regions of India are likely to slash down the cement prices in the near future by Rs2-4 per 50 kg bag on account of poor cement consumption due to heavy rains. Cement, and India Cements have implemented the price cut.
With this price reduction, the wholesale price in Mumbai stands at around Rs245 for a 50-kg bag.But the reduction in cement price by Rs2-4 per 50 kg bag in Maharashtra has yet to come in to effect, since dealers have not even received any such information from the companies. However, cement prices in other states like Gujarat, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh (Hyderabad) has already decline by Rs5-10 per 50 kg bag, a week ago.
“The cement off-take is likely to remain sluggish until the end of September due to decrease in construction activity,” said a dealer. According to industry watchers, cement consumption to improve from October due to pick up in construction activity and better utilization of capacity.
