Mumbai, July, 13 (EPC News): To accelerate land acquisition procedures for executing its road projects, the National Highways Authority of India has set up special land acquisition units under the responsibility of state government officials on deputation to the authority. To streamline the land delayed land acquisition process the body also seeks Environment Ministry’s clearance. Around 30 per cent of the projects under the National Highways Development Programme are behind schedule due to the tardy land acquisition process. The ministry had earlier written to state governments to acquire all the land needed for a highway project before the Centre put it for bidding.
