3:34PM (Mon) - Essar's Hazira plant capacity rises up to 10,000 MTPA

Mumbai, Mar, 21 (EPC News): The capacity of Essar Steel at Hazira plant is almost completed and will enhance the plant's total production to 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

The commissioning of all the units at the plant except coke oven battery is expected to initiate by next month. The coke oven battery will be commissioned by 2012. The company have plans to invest up to Rs30,000 crore for enhancing Hazira plant's capacity to 10,000 MTPA.

The company aims to commission a corex module capacity of 1.74 MTPA and CSP caster and mill of 3.5 MTPA capacity by the 2011. The construction of 12 MTPA pellet plant at Paradip, Orissa is near completion and mechanical commissioning has got started.

Post-commissioning, the company will have a total pelletisation capacity of 20 MTPA as it already has an 8 MTPA pellet plant at Vizag in Andhra Pradesh.
