Mumbai, May, 13 (EPC News): Essar Steel reported a 60% growth in its crude steel output during the month of April 2011 as against the production output attained in the period last year. The company’s crude steel production rose by 60.7% to 3.97 lakh tonnes this April from 2.47 lakh tonnes last year. The rolled products production marked a rise of 41.6% attaining 3.37 lakh tonnes as against 2.38 lakh tonnes in the previous year. The company recently commissioned India’s first 5m wide plate mill with a capacity of 1.5 mpta.
