Mumbai, Sep, 24 (EPC News): Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) has all factors going for launching a second shipbuilding facility in Kerala at Vizhinjam, a nature's best gift for the maritime industry. This was alluded by K. Mohandas, Secretary, Union Ministry of Shipping during the dedication ceremony of CSL bollard pull test facility.

Cmde Subramaniam, CMD, CSL indicated that 500 tonne bollard pull test facility could be the forbearer of a slew of projects that CSL had in mind for Vizhinjam. The Vizhinjam pull test facility stands highest in terms of handling capacity. It is 2.5 times higher than the country's second best at Ratnagiri.

Considering the project seriously, the Kerala Ports Minister, K Babu, laid the foundation stone for drinking water supply and sanitation project which the CSL was taking up at Vizhinjam as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.
