Mumbai, Sep, 29 (EPC News): For easy commuting and safe travel, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has invited bids to further improve 145 km road network from Mumbai Metropolitan Region which would entail an expenditure of Rs615 crores. This work includes widening and improving of seven crucial roads.

“The areas of Kalyan, Badlapur, Karjat and Nalasopara are on growing and need better road network. All the seven roads undertaken for expansion and upgrading to cover and meet the demands of this area which is bustling with commercial activities”, said Dilip Kawathkar, Joint Project Director (PR), MMRDA.
 
The seven roads that are to be developed are 22.70 km long Shirsad-Ambadi state highway, 21.25 km long Ambadi-Washind state highway, 27.80 km long Kalyan-Badlapur-Vangani state highway, 21.10 km long Vangani-Karjat state highway, 20.54 km long Karjat-Hal Phata state highway, 19.20 km Katai Naka-Badlapur state highway and 12.50 km long Nalasopara-Nirmal Road.
 
MMRDA has also invited bid for construction of twin flyovers at Rajnoli and Mankoli junctions in Nasik. The cost estimates to Rs157 crore. According to Kawathkar, the city of Nasik is attracting more and more commercial activities, with the propelling wine industry and the presence of auto industry and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The growing number of educational institutions, malls, multiplexes and infrastructure is also attracting more commercial activities.

The flyover at Rajnoli Junction will be 665 meters long and the Mankoli flyover will measure up for 600 meters. Both flyovers will be 27 meters wide and provide three lanes each up and down. Both flyovers will be facilitated with 7 meter long slip road and service road each on either side at both approaches.
