REpower UK wins Rs186 cr contract

Mumbai, Dec (EPC News): REpower UK, a wholly-owned arm of REpower Systems of Germany controlled by Suzlon Energy, has won a Rs 186-crore contract from E.ON Climate and Renewables for supplying 15 turbines. It is the third order won by Suzlon Group in the last fortnight.

The wind farms are located at Butterwick Moor and Haswell Moor in County Durham in the UK. Together, they will produce 30.75 MW of wind power, which is sufficient to light up 17,000 homes, said a press release issued by the company.

The first turbine will be installed in July 2010 at the Haswell site where five of the 15 turbines will be located. Both sites will be fully operational by the end of 2010 and will help REpower reach 500 MW of installed capacity in the UK.
