Mumbai, Nov (EPC News):  BEML Ltd said it had bagged Rs185 crore order for supplying one of the largest `walking draglines' or a huge, waste excavating bucket for Northern Coalfields Ltd. The order includes supply of spares for three years. The dragline with a capacity to lift 33 cu m is used in opencast mines to remove overburdens or surface material covering the mineral deposit. BEML's current order will be the biggest to be manufactured in the country. It will be made at the Kolar Gold Fields facility and delivered by July 2011, the defence public enterprise said. Five draglines supplied by BEML to coal companies in earlier years are in operation. With this, BEML's total order book position as in October 2009 stands at Rs5,930 crore for its business divisions for mining and construction, defence, rail and metro. The company aims to have total turnover of Rs4,000 crore for the year.
