JCB unveils new cutter attachment

9/18/2009 4:07:00 PM

The new JCB Rockwheel hydraulic cutter joins the company’s extensive attachments range providing earthmoving and demolition contractors with a highly versatile and productive new tool for tasks including trenching, scabbling, quarrying, tunnelling, scaling and demolition.

The Rockwheel is available in three different size variants – the RW40, RW50 and RW100 – and is compatible with JCB’s midi and tracked excavator models from 6 to 26 tonnes. It can also be used with JCB’s flagship 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders. An alternative tool for typical excavator applications, the new JCB Rockwheel can be used in conjunction with buckets and hydraulic breakers to give even greater on-site functionality.

Key features of the Rockwheel range are the accuracy, low noise levels, lower vibration and impressive productivity rates. In certain applications, most notably trenching, the new attachment gives superior performance when compared to traditional methods. Its design enables accurate profiling in deep trenches, gives greater control when excavating around existing services and can minimize noise in urban environments. The JCB Rockwheel features a direct drive design, with its high-torque, low speed hydraulic motor mounted in between the two cutting heads - each of which has its own bearing assembly. The three variants can operate in arduous conditions and cutting drum replacement is quick and simple. Underwater operation is possible to a depth of 30m for aggregate extraction applications.
