He is having over 33 years of experience as a Professor in Civil engineering. He was working at MSR Institute of Technology as professor before joining to RV College of Engineering, Bangalore. Currently, he is working as Professor for Post-graduate studies for Highway Technology. He has been actively involved in research since 1976 & published over 80 research papers in various international journals, conferences & seminars. During this period he has authored 12 text books in engineering covering basics for engineering students. He has worked as traffic engineering advisor & consultant to several corporate large scale builders in India for several projects. He has supervised over 150 projects related to traffic, transportation & infrastructure and at the same time he has delivered more than 200 technical lectures at various institutions in India & abroad. He is the founder chairman of an NGO (Traffic Engineers & Safety Trainers) consistently working in the field of traffic & road safety. During this time he has educated over 400 thousand road users on road safety. In the year 2004, he became the advisor to Government of Karnataka, for traffic, transportation & infrastructure & an expert member to Bangalore infrastructure development. Prof. M.N is member to more than 12 professional bodies like Institution of Engineers (IE), Indian Roads Congress (IRC), Indian Road Transport (IRT), Indian Society of Technical education (ISTE) and several others. He has been an advisor to Government of Maharastra and Government of Goa for mono-rail project for Road connectivity works under JnNURM schemes respectively. He has received several awards & honors such as, Best Engineer for Bangalore (2000), Man of the year for India (2009), Karnataka Padma Bhushana award from the state Government (2008), Honored by State Government for best engineering service (2000), & many more. In the year 2000 he started Consortia of Infrastructure Engineers, providing consultancy services in traffic & transportation engineering & has been the chief executive officer of this organization presently.

He has retired as the Deputy Managing Director of Gammon India Ltd in 2005. In his working capacity, he worked in countries from Nepal, Sri Lanka, UAE, Iraq, Oman, Russia, Libya and Kenya. He is the past President of Indian Concrete Institute and holds a fellowship of the Institution of Engineers India, Indian National Academy of Engineering. He was the visiting professor at Anna University and also a member of the National Board of Accreditation (AICTE) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Delhi. He was the consultant for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Iran in 1991, as well as for M80 self-compacting concrete for high rise buildings and Management Consultant for Value Engineering since 2005. He has been awarded the Institution of Engineers Awards: Sir Arthur Cotton Gold Medal, Pre-stressed Concrete Design Award, S. B. Joshi Award, Eminent Engineer Award and Vishwakarma Award by CIDC (Planning Commission) in February 2009.

Executed large mass township at New Mumbai, Khoparkhairne, Nerul. Similarly also completed large Development in Chembur & Andheri. Presently developing many projects for redevelopment of MHADA, BMC and Cess properties in and around Mumbai of more than 1500 crores. He is socially active and representing various industry organisations & trade bodies in the different capacities. He has been honoured with Dharti Ratna Award with Gold Medal in recognition of his services rendered to inhabitants of "Mother Earth" & "Order of Merit for Land Development" for the year 2007 & Accommodation Times Award for the Year 2006 received in recognition for Raising the Causes for Real Estate Industry. He has gone on study tours to USA, Canada, France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, U.K., Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, U.A.E., Phillippine, Malaysia, China, Singapore, Shri Lanka and Nepal besides touring own country & lead the study team of Builders Association of India, for study to China & UAE.

Professor Akhtar Chauhan is director of Rizvi College of Architecture, Mumbai. He is an architect, planner and educator based in Mumbai. He was the Chairman of adhoc Board of Studies in Architecture, University of Mumbai. He is founder of International Association for Humane Habitat (IAHH) and has organized 13 International Conferences on Humane Habitat (ICHH) and 9 IAHH International Student Design Competitions. He is President of Maharashtra Association of Schools of Architeecture (MASA), He was Vice President of World Society for Ekistics (WSE), Co-Convener, Housing and Urbanization programme of Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) and Secretary Work Group on Architectural Heritage ( Asia-Australia) of Union Internationale des Architects (UIA). He has travelled to 25 countries and delivered lectures at foreign universities. He was Hon. Editor of Journal of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Jt. Secretary, IIA and an elected member of the Council of Architecture. He has a joint architectural and planning practice with his wife Pradnya Chauhan and brother Anvar Chauhan. They have designed townships, housing, educational institutions, offices, multiplexes, resorts and hotels in India and Iraq.
