Currently, MADC is developing six domestic and one international airport at various locations in Maharashtra, which includes Jalgaon, Amravati, Shirdi, Solapur, Gadchiroli, Nagpur and an international airport at Pune. The total investment for all the seven airports is around Rs 4500 crore, out of which Rs 3000 crore will be incurred towards Pune International Airport.
After inviting bids for Shirdi, the company would invite bids for the development of a domestic airport at Solapur, he said. In 2-3 months the entire 300 hectares of land for the Shirdi airport would be acquired and in the next 4-5 months the deal for the Solapur land will be finalized. Similar land for an airport in Jalgaon has already been acquired.
“The land acquisition for all the seven airports would be finalized in next five months, since Maharashtra is gaining the momentum for Assembly polls,” said Sinha.
The seven airports would be developed on the basis of public-private partnership with MADC acquiring land and laying down design specifications. “All the airport projects in Maharashtra will be offered through international, competitive, open bidding process,” said Sinha.
All the domestic airports would have 2,800 meters long runways that can accommodate Airbus 320, he added.
