Mumbai, Sep (EPC News): According to a PIB release, delegates representing the Government of India (GoI) and the Government of Nepal met recently in New Delhi to discuss issues related to aviation.

The Indian delegation was led by M Madhavan Nambiar, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), Government of India, and the Nepalese side was led by Nagendra Prasad Ghimire, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Nepal. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed for a revised Air Services Agreement (ASA) based on the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) template. The MoU will super cede all previous arrangements to the extent applicable and will come into force with immediate effect.

Recognizing that the ASA between the Government of Nepal and GoI initiated on June 5, 1997 needed to be revised in the wake of developments which have taken place in the aviation industry since then, the two delegations finalized and initiated the text of a revised Air Services Agreement. A Technical Co-operation Agreement was also signed between the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal which is also a part of the MoU.
