New Delhi, July (EPC News):Air India is losing Rs 14-15 crore daily mainly on account of low fares in relation to costs and low passenger loads.
Air India is seeking Government subvention running into several thousands of crores of rupees, although the airline has not yet sent a concrete proposal for the funds it is seeking. Being a public sector enterprise, the airline will have to seek Parliamentary approval before any funds can be sanctioned.
With the budgetary allocation for various departments having been frozen in the past few days, the airline will have to wait for some more time before the funds are made available. The Union Budget is to be presented on July 6.
